Have you ever heard of a 6-month-old baby named Tyrannosaurus? Well, of course, you haven’t, because there is no parent in the world who would choose an odd name for their child. Similarly, when companies launch a new product, they also put a lot of effort into finding the right name for it since the name plays a vital part in a product’s growth. Similarly, having a bad name can easily backfire for both a product and the company that manufactured it.

1. Dry Sack Sherry

When you combine ‘dry’ with ‘sack’, then you’re definitely not thinking of wine, something else comes to mind entirely. This was the problem with Williams & Humbert’s product which was named ‘Dry Sack Sherry.’ But this naming mishap could be considered as an honest mistake since sack is also a term often used in the winemaking profession to describe a certain type of wine.

2. K.U.M Hair Care

Just by reading the name, you already know where this is going. Unfortunately, the company, however, did not. When you take a name like that and pair it up with a shampoo bottle, it’s almost like you’re on the lookout for ridicule and controversy. As it turns out, the company didn’t name the hair products K.U.M for no reason at all–they named it so because of the use of kumquat extract which is the key ingredient in the hair care line. Unlucky for them, they decided to highlight the best aspect of their product in the worst possible way..

3. 666 Cold Preparation

Take one look at this product name and you might be forgiven for thinking that there was absolutely no thought process behind this product’s naming. Given the fact that it is a pain reliever and a fever reducer, there is some logic to adding the word ‘cold,’ but as a whole, we doubt if anyone could ever guess that a product named ‘666 Cold Preparation’ had anything to do with a fever or pain relief. And to top it all off, the number 666 could be inferred as a nod towards satanic symbolism, which makes this name choice even more bizzarre.
