Everything to Know About Melania Trump’s Upcoming Documentary Film, “MELANIA”

January 1, 2026

The first trailer for the documentary film “MELANIA” is finally here, and it says a lot without trying too hard. This is not a glossy highlight reel or a loud political statement. It feels calm, controlled, and personal, much like the woman at its center.

The 104-minute film follows the 55-year-old First Lady during the 20 days leading up to her return to the White House in January 2025. Cameras stay close as the pressure builds. The tone stays quiet, even when the stakes are high.

“MELANIA” is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Brett Ratner.

However, what makes it stand out is access. Viewers see private meetings, wardrobe fittings, family moments, and conversations that were never meant for a press pool.

Melania / IG / The trailer opens with Melania Trump walking into the U.S. Capitol on inauguration day. She looks straight into the camera and says, “Here we go again.”

That opening sets the mood for the rest of the preview. There is no background music pushing emotion. No voiceover explaining how to feel. The scenes speak on their own, and they move quickly.

One moment shows Melania loosening up before the inauguration ball, waving her arms and dancing in a quiet room. It is playful and unexpected. The kind of moment that never makes it into official coverage, but tells you something real about the person.

Another scene has more weight. During a speech rehearsal, Donald Trump practices a line about his legacy. Melania steps in and corrects him, suggesting he add “unifier” alongside “peacemaker.” The change reportedly made it into the final address. It is a small edit, but it shows influence in action.

The trailer also includes a hug with her son Barron and a gown fitting with longtime stylist Herve Pierre. A quiet question to a Secret Service agent as the motorcade speeds up, “Am I safe?” None of it feels staged. That is what makes it stick.

The final beat is a phone call between the First Couple. She congratulates him. He asks if she watched it. She says she will catch it on the news.

Why This Film Is a Big Deal in Hollywood?

Melania / IG / Amazon reportedly paid around $40 million to license “MELANIA.” That number raised eyebrows across the industry.

Industry critics say tha it is the largest documentary deal ever made.

The bidding war included major players like Disney and Paramount. Amazon won, and not quietly. The deal signals strong confidence that this story has global appeal beyond U.S. politics.

However, the plan does not stop with a single film. Alongside the theatrical release, Amazon is expected to roll out a multi-episode documentary series tied to the same material. That suggests there is far more footage than what fits into 104 minutes.

The First Lady is also an executive producer on the project. That matters. It means she had real control over what was filmed, how it was shaped, and what made the final cut. This is not an outsider’s take. It is her version of events.
